"Sammy and Me" is an episode in Season 5 of The Ren & Stimpy Show. It did not originally premiere on Nickelodeon, but rather MTV.


Stimpy's Sammy Mantis Jr. fan club kit arrives in the mail and Stimpy is overjoyed. Ren is sick of Stimpy's crazy obsession with Sammy Mantis, and soon, Stimpy begins stalking the Mantis Man.

  • This is the last episode to feature a musical song number in an episode.
  • This episode and The Last Temptation are the only ones to air in 1996.
  • The character of Sammy Mantis is based off of Sammy Davis Jr.
  • The episode did not premiere on Nickelodeon due to its violent subject matter and potentially offensive jokes involving the glass eye in Stimpy's Sammy Mantis kit. The real Sammy Davis Jr. apparently had a glass eye, and a staff member thought the jokes were in poor taste. It eventually aired on Nickelodeon in August 2000, and was later released on DVD.
  • The scene where Ren complains about reading Stimpy the bedtime story is cut on the Paramount DVD.
  • The book is based off the Golden Book series.
  • The insects at Sammy's party resemble celebrities from the 1950's and 1960's; some of them are Joey "Jerry" Beatle (Jerry Lewis), Dean Mayfly (Dean Martin), Liberoache (Liberace).
  • The scene where Ren throws Stimpy’s book in the fireplace was based off when John Kricfalusi's dad threw away his drawings.
